Control of Volunteer Oilseed Rape
Fresh rape seeds have little or no primary dormancy and can develop secondary dormancy if exposed to darkness and/or dry conditions, low temperatures, oxygen stress. The level of dormancy can vary between varieties.
The seeds are very attractive to predators such as birds and ground beetles as they contain a high level of fat and protein.
