Chemical Control – Cleavers
21.06.2018
Cleavers are the most competitive weed species and to prevent yield loss and minimise seed return, herbicides need to deliver a consistent 95 – 98% control.
The competitive nature of the weed means that every opportunity should be taken to keep on top of the weed. Pre or very early post-emergence use of 3 l/ha Picona will provide good control provided that the cleavers are not bigger than 3 whorls, whilst 4 l/ha Crystal will provide moderate control upto the cotyledon stage of the weed.
If necessary, late season control of cleavers can be obtained by the use of fluroxypyr and florasulam.
