Legumes

Legumes are an important part of UK agriculture. They can be split into two types: combinable legumes (such as combining peas / field beans) and vegetable legumes (such as vining peas, green beans and broad beans).

An increasing number of growers are bringing peas and beans into the rotation. The driving forces are the continued battle against blackgrass, the introduction of the three-crop rule and challenges in the establishment of other break crops.

Whilst beans are seen as a lower input crop, there are still pest, weed and disease challenges. BASF offers a range of solutions to support efficient pea and bean production, including options for weed and disease control.

BEAN GROWTH GUIDE

As the demand for plant-based protein increases, the area of field beans has been steadily growing. Not only are they a profitable crop, but they also provide numerous benefits to the following crop and offer an opportunity for grass weed control.

We have put together a comprehensive guide, to cover everything you need to know to successfully grow field beans, from establishment to harvest.

Whether you are a seasoned agronomist or new grower, this guide is designed to provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to successfully grow field beans.

BASF Pulse Check 2022 Results

The results of our second BASF Pulse Check Survey are now in and thank you to those who participated.

The aim was to find out what barriers growers are facing to achieving higher yields and what agronomic factors seem to have the strongest association with higher yielding crops.
